Swedish or Therapeutic: Which Massage Is Right for You?

A simple guide to choosing the session that fits your needs

Choosing a massage can feel confusing when you are not sure what the names mean. Here is a plain-language comparison of two of our most requested services, so you can book with confidence.

Swedish Massage is our most popular service. It uses long, smooth, flowing strokes across the body to ease tension and help you relax. If you want to unwind, de-stress and enjoy a soothing hour, this is a wonderful choice. It is also a great fit if you are new to massage.

Therapeutic Massage is more focused. It targets specific muscles and connective tissue, and is well suited to ongoing tightness, chronic discomfort or tension from an old injury. The pressure may be firmer, and the goal is relief in the areas that bother you most.

How to decide. Ask yourself what you want from the visit. If the answer is "I just want to relax," Swedish is a good place to start. If it is "my lower back keeps bothering me" or "I carry so much in my neck," therapeutic work may serve you better.

Not sure? That is okay. Tell us how you are feeling when you arrive and we will help you choose, and we can adjust during the session. If you would like to test the waters first, our 30-minute Introductory Massage focuses on the head, neck, shoulders and back.

Whatever you choose, your comfort comes first. Speak up about pressure at any time. This hour is yours.
